Biobrane Liner 1215 for Europe's highest hill reservoir
Liner 915, 1115 and 1215
Since the middle of the 1980s, Serge Ferrari has been active in the field of leak-tight liners for complex hill reservoirs. The production of snow in ski resorts is a recurrent problem, particularly with the current effects of climate change.
At altitudes of more than 3,000m, falling ice, tectonic risk and avalanches are also risk factors that make it impossibel to use rigid materials, like concrete. The slightest ground movement can affect the leak-tightness of artificial lakes. The fundamental added value of flexible materials is their capacity to absorb ground movements without tearing, thus guaranteeing the leak-tightness of hill reservoirs. Furthermore, falling ice during winter often causes tears in flexible materials that are not reinforced, such as EPDM, HDPE or LDPE. The major advantage of reinforced PVC is its resistance to tearing and laceration. It is important to differentiate between a valley reservoir, unaffected by ground movements, and a hill reservoir, subject to the random effects of the mountains.
Serge Ferrari is a major player in the hill reservoir sector, with proven expertise that has become fundamental for the storage of several hundred thousand cubic metres of water at high altitude. Our multiple references in Europe and throughout the world illustrate our success, justifying the use of our reinforced PVC materials for the production of artificial snow.
