Serge Ferrari, manufacturer of flexible composite materials, has released a new training module. “An Introduction of Fabrics in Architecture” (SF2020-1) has been approved by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and qualifies for 1.0 LU | HSW (health, safety and welfare) of continuing education. Available via Live webinar, this seminar will outline the different types of performance textiles currently used in building design, and how each can be applied in a variety of architectural applications to solve challenges including occupant health and safety.

Learning objectives of this course include, to:

• Gain an understanding of how solar protection performance textiles, applied on the interior and exterior of a building, can help address occupant wellness, energy efficiency, occupant comfort and thermal performance for integrated building design.
• Learn the effects that acoustics have on occupants and how performance textiles enhance the acoustic performance of a space thus making occupants more comfortable and productive.
• Understand the many factors that go into performance textiles on facade applications including thermal and visual protection, increased airflow, smog prevention, and aesthetic benefits.
• Learn how the light weight and flexibility of performance textiles offer tensile structures freedom of design while simultaneously providing UV, weather and acoustic protection
• Garner a deeper understanding of safety, sustainability, and environmental benefits as it relates to fabric in architecture.
